Week of May 12th

Reminders for Kindergarten Celebration and the Last Days

v The Celebration is, Friday, May 16^th.  The ceremony will start at 9:00 but please have your student here by 8:15 to eat breakfast and get ready.  We will be leaving our room by 8:35 to practice.  It is important that you leave your student at the door; we want the celebration to be a surprise! The seats on the field will probably fill quickly and I know you will want to get a good seat!

v Your student may dress up as much a they/you would like!  Your student will be able to tell you if they are sitting on the mats, sitting in a chair or standing for the performance to help with your outfit choices for the celebration.

v Your student DOES NOT need to bring a backpack unless they are bringing a change of clothes.

v Please remember, girls need to wear flat shoes, no high heels. 

v At the end of the ceremony your student will be able to meet you in the designated area and then proceed to the cafeteria for refreshments. Before your take your student for their special day, please come say good-bye and sign out with us!

v Monday, May 19th is our field trip to Lucky Strike for our end of the year party! If you have not already turned in your permission slip and money please bring them in ASAP. Your student may wear jeans and a red shirt to school that day and please make sure that they are also wearing socks!  We are very much looking forward to this trip. J

v Please remember THERE WILL BE NO AFTER SCHOOL ON THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL.  Your student needs to be picked up at 11:30 in our room.

This has been a wonderful year and I would like to thank each of you for all of your support and especially last week’s teacher appreciation gifts!  They were so wonderful and made us feel very special J

Week of May 5th

       Welcome to another wonderful week of kindergarten!  We only have 13 more days of school, can you believe it?  This Wednesday, May 7^th, is Field Day!  This means that we go out to the football field and play water games.  You student may wear a swimsuit under some clothes that can get wet.  Please no flip flops because the students will be running around.  We recommend sneakers that can get wet, water shoes or Crocs.  Your student needs to also bring a towel and a change of clothes for afterwards, including underwear and socks.        This week we will be report card testing and DIBELS testing.  We will also be working on our songs for our Kindergarten Celebration and we have Field Day on Wednesday. 

       In reading and math we will be reviewing concepts from the year and starting a book of memories from our year in kindergarten.

       There is no homework for the rest of the year but please remember to read with your student everyday!! J

  On Monday, May 19^th, we will be having our end of the year bowling party at Lucky Strike!  The cost is $6 and permission slips are going home today. Please turn them into us no later than Tuesday, May 13^th.  The party will be from 12:30-2:30 so we will eat at school like normal that day.  Students may wear a red shirt and jeans that day and they need to wear socks to school.

         At the end of the year we will have a kindergarten celebration! We put on a concert for all of you parents and then you can take your student for a very special day, a whole day to celebrate becoming a 1^st grader!  We will have the celebration on Friday, May 16^th at 9:00am.  I know it can be hard to get time off, and I wanted to be sure to give you plenty of notice!
