Week of August 30th

Welcome to another wonderful week of school! Tomorrow, Monday the 30th, is school picture day at La Paloma! It is for the yearbook so it is not dress down but uniform pictures. Order forms went home last Thursday but if you need another please let me or the front office know.
La Paloma Academy is selling Entertainment Books again this year and we are trying to raise as much money as possible for our school! The books went home on Monday, the 23rd and will be able to be sold until September 8th. If you have any questions please let me or the front office know!
La Paloma will be having it’s Open House on Wednesday, September 1st, starting at 6pm and going until 8pm. We would love for you to come by and see our classroom and check out the school!
On Fridays your student is allowed to wear jeans instead of the normal khaki or blue dockers. The jeans need to be blue jeans though, please no colored jeans or other skirts and shorts.
The first Wednesday of every month is Dress Down for a Dollar Day. Your student may wear whatever they would like (within dress code) for a dollar. We use this money in our classroom throughout the year!
We have been practicing writing our names in class this first week of school and making sure that the only letter that is capitalized in our name is the first letter. Please work on this with your student at home!
This week we will also be learning about the letter “O”. How to write it correctly and what sound the letter makes. I would like to start a picture wall of items that you and your student might find that start with the letter “O”. Please send in any pictures or items that you think would be a good addition to our wall!

Week of August 16th

We had a great first two days of school this last week and I am very excited for this school year! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns this year. I am easiest to get a hold of through email but please feel free to call me anytime. I am looking forward to working with both you and your student!

Please remember your student needs to wear a collared shirt everyday to school. It may be red, navy blue or white, but needs to have a collar. Their shirts also need to be tucked into their pants or skirts at all times! Please make sure your student knows how important this is!

Monday-Friday the blue homework folder will go home with your student which has work that they have done in class and letters to go home. Please make sure that this folder comes back to school each day so that we can fill it with news and great new refrigerator art!

Attached to the newsletter is the snack calendar for this month. Everyday, except for Wednesdays, we will have an afternoon snack in class. It is important that we have a snack for each day so if there is problem with the day that you have been assigned please let me know and I would be happy to work something out with you. Snacks that work well are foods that are prepackaged and do not have to be refrigerated. Due to health code we can not serve food that has been prepared at home. Also please no snacks that have peanuts or nuts in them due to food allergies. There are 28 students in our class and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about the calendar!

Looking forward to a great week!

WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN!

MEET YOUR TEACHER!

Welcome to the 2010-2011 kindergarten school year! This is a very exciting time, but I know it can be a little scary as well! We are going to have a meet and greet time on Monday, August 9, from 4 to 5:30 in room 306 if you would like to come by and quickly see the new classroom and meet your teacher. Seeing the new classroom with you before school starts may help with some of those first day jitters.

Also attached is the up to date supplies list. I know that another list was sent out this summer but this list is more specific for our kindergarten classroom.

I hope to see you on Monday the 9th, but if not, look forward to seeing all of my new kindergarteners at 8:30 on Thursday the 12th, for the first day of school!

Miss McIntosh
