Week of January 18th

Welcome back to another wonderful week of school! I hope everyone had a nice, long weekend and is ready for a new week of school.
I am sending home a double-sided snack calendar for the rest of January and the month of February. Please make sure to bring snack in on your assigned day. If there is a conflict, question or concern please let me know so that we can make other arrangements. Thanks!
We are planning a field trip to the TCC Music Hall on February 7th, 2011. It is called “Bodiology” and will teach us healthy ways to take care of our bodies! We will be taking the bus and going to Reid Park after the play for a picnic lunch. The cost is $7 and was due the 14th so please get into me ASAP!
Next Monday, January 24th, is our 100th day of school! This is a very important for your student to be at school and on time. We will be having a pajama day that day and will be doing lots of fun activities that your student will not want to miss! That day please bring in 100 of a small item. It could be 100 beans, marbles, stamps, coins, beads, anything you can think of! We will also have a big school lunch that day. This will be a great day, don’t miss it!
In class this week we will be learning the letter U and will be starting our unit on DINOSAURS. I know many students are interested in dinosaurs so if you have any fun books you think the class would enjoy, please send them in. We will have another spelling test this week, getting us prepared for first grade, which will be made up of the sight words we have been working on. Please study these words with your student and keep looking for them in the books you are reading.
Also please count with your student every night. Our next goal is to count to without skipping any numbers is 75. Keep filling out the reading logs, or have your student fill them out, great practice!
I look forward to another learning filled week. As usual please email me if you have any questions. mcintosh@lpatucson.org
