Week of December 10th

Welcome to another wonderful week of kindergarten!  We will have our holiday party on Monday, December 17th!  For the party we will be decorating gingerbread trees!  I will send home a slip this week for one item for you to bring in for the party.  Please bring the item in by Friday, December 14th, so we know how much we will have of everything.  Thank you for your help and support!

The pennies from the Penny War have been counted and the winners are the GIRLS!!  Congratulations to all, it was very close and we raised over $500 to send to the schools affected by Sandy.  I was very impressed this year with the amount of pennies our class raised, by far the most of any class I’ve ever had!  The girls free dress down day will be Monday, December 17th.
Our Holiday Show is going to be on Tuesday, December 18th, at Grace to the Nations, up the street on Pima. It usually starts around 9:00-9:15. We will sing our song, Jingle Bell Rock, and then watch the rest of our school perform! This is a special day so if you would like to take your student to a special lunch or activity afterwards please feel free to make plans and have a wonderful day together!
This week we will not have homework and in class we will be reviewing our letters and letter sounds from this semester.  We will also be working on holiday art projects and our song for the holiday show! Next Monday, I will send home a small packet for your student to work on over the break, just so they don’t forget about school during our weeks off!
Keep up the reading and finding sight words on the text. Keep counting with your student to at least 75 every night, this is our new goal for the next quarter!
I'm looking forward to another wonderful week of kindergarten!

Week of December 3rd

Welcome to another wonderful week of kindergarten!  It is finally starting to get cold!  So exciting!  Please remember that any jackets that your student would like to wear inside need to be red, white or navy blue.  If you are going to wear a long sleeved shirt it also needs to be red, white or navy blue.  The kids have been growing like crazy!  Please make sure that they can still tuck their shirts in as per dress code.

I sent a new snack calendar home last Monday that is good for December and January.  Good snack ideas are anything that is prepackaged into individual sizes.  The kids love fruit snacks, chips, any of the Keebler snacks and juice.  Please remember that we are a peanut free school, so nothing that contains peanuts, peanut butter or pretty much nuts of any kind.  Thank you!
Our Holiday Show is going to be on Tuesday, December 18th, and it usually starts around 9:00-9:15. This is a special day so if you would like to take your student to a special lunch or activity afterwards please feel free to make plans and have a wonderful day together! We will have a half day the next day, Wednesday, December 19th, with no lunch and no after school.
This week homework will go home today, Monday, and is due on Friday. Since we are starting report card testing the only homework this week will be writing numbers 1-50 without the numbers written above for reference. There will also be a reading log due on Friday.  Keep working on your reading logs, we are sending home Book-it tickets and anyone who turns in all their reading logs each month can earn one!  Keep up the reading and finding sight words on the text. Keep counting with your student to at least 50 every night!
I'm looking forward to another wonderful week!
