Week of January 28th

Welcome to another wonderful week of kindergarten!  Valentine’s Day is approaching quickly and I know that some of you would like to get a head start on your Valentine’s Day cards.  We have 30 students in our class and instead of writing names on the cards please just leave them blank.  It is much easier and faster for the students to pass them out to their friends this way.  

 I am sending home a snack calendar for February and March.  On your day please bring in 30 pre-packaged snacks that do not have any peanuts in them.  You do not have to bring in a drink but the students do appreciate them!  Some popular snack choices are chips, fruit snacks, Cheezits and Goldfish Crackers.  Thank you for your help and support!

The Friday Dress rules started last Tuesday, January 22^nd.  There will be random uniform checks throughout the week and if your student is in dress code they will be able to wear jeans on Friday.  If your student is not in dress code during this random check they will be given a slip of paper that says they did not earn Friday Dress that week.  We will keep a list on the board as well if you have any questions!

This week homework will go home and Monday and it is due Friday.  We will be learning the letter C and the sound that it makes. This week we are finishing our Dinosaur unit and will be making our Dinosaur books to take home and read to you!  The students work very hard on these and are getting so excited knowing they get to take them home so soon.  We will also be starting to talk about Groundhog’s Day and making predictions about whether or not Puxatawney Phil will see his shadow.  Watch for a permission slip for our next field trip that will be coming home this week.

Week of January 14th

Welcome to another wonderful week of kindergarten!  Our field trip to Sabino Canyon is coming up on Tuesday, January 22^nd!  I am sending home permission slips today, please send them back in ASAP.  The field trip is FREE, and afterwards we will go to Ft. Lowell Park and have a picnic and some playtime.  If you would like to chaperone, I will sign up the first 4 parents who come and talk to me.  There is more info attached to the permission form!

The 100^th Day of School is coming up on Wednesday, January 16^th and will be a very fun day full of lots of activities based on the number 100.  Your student may wear pajamas to school that day!  They may bring a robe and slippers as well, but please leave the pillows and stuffed animals tucked into bed that morning.

We have had some very good books brought in and I know there are so many that we have not had a chance to read as of yet, so keep them coming!  J
