Week of March 11th

Welcome to another wonderful week in kindergarten!  The third quarter is coming to a close, can you believe it?!?  Report card day is this Friday, March 15th, and it will be a half day, ending at 11:30 with NO LUNCH AND NO AFTER SCHOOL.  Please plan on picking up your student at 11:30 that day.  Like the last few report card days we will be waiting in our room with our backpacks on and ready!  This helps with confusion and the mess up front that day! J

For report card week this week there will be no homework!  We will be learning the letter J and the sound that it makes. We made Oobleck last week and the students really enjoyed it!  There was quite a debate about whether Oobleck was a liquid or a solid.  There were many requests to make Oobleck at home and it is a very simple recipe.  It is a mixture of cornstarch and water about 2:1.  If the mixture is too hard add more water, but if it is too runny add more cornstarch until it becomes a little bit firmer.  We added a little bit of green food coloring to the water to make it a little bit more fun, enjoy!
Report cards will be going home this week.  I will be attaching the test that I give to the students which is more in-depth and will give you a better idea of what your student needs to work on more specifically.  Please reinforce at home the areas that are highlighted, these are very important in getting your student ready for first grade.
Get your calendars out, time to plan for our end of the year celebration!  This year we will do our kindergarten celebration on Friday, May 17th and start around 9:00.  This is a big day for the students so please plan a fun day for you and your student afterwards!  I know getting time off from work can be a challenge sometimes, so I want to make sure everyone has plenty of time!
I'm looking forward to another wonderful week!
