Week of April 29th

Welcome to another week of kindergarten!  The kindergarten celebration is on Friday, May 17th and will start around 9:00.  You may bring as many family members as you would like to the ceremony.  It will take place on the field so there will be plenty of room.  The students may dress up for this occasion, but please no heels for the girls!  After the performance there will be cupcakes and juice on the basketball court.
Teacher appreciation week is coming up next week and I just wanted to let you know in advance THANK YOU!!!  I also wanted to let you know, and I know it seems strange to some, but I don’t like chocolate.  Ms. Hayde loves chocolate though!  She and I also like fun pens and notepads.  But what we love more than anything are homemade cards!            Homework will go home today and is due this Friday.  Part of the homework is having your student write down their phone number and address. This week we will be learning the long vowel sounds and when to use them. We are now counting by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s to 100 and writing our numbers to 100 as well.  We have been doing lots of writing lately and working on sounding out words.  We are also practicing subtraction and deciding when we should use it when we practice our word problems. Some new sight words to start reviewing at home are come, that and said.
For our end of the year party we will be going bowling at Lucky Strike Bowl on Speedway.  If you would like to join us please let me know as soon as possible!!! Just a reminder that you NEED to have your fingerprint card up in the office to attend.  Julie only does fingerprinting on certain days so please make sure that you check with office sooner than later if you need to get them done.  I will be sending the permission slips home this week. Please turn them in on or before the due date!!
I'm looking forward to another great week!
