Week of November 18th

Last year we were only a few cans away from winning the holiday food drive!  Please help our class win first place this year!  Some items they are looking for are: potatoes(box), stuffing(box), peanut butter and jelly, gravy(can), tuna(can), rice(bag), beans(bags and cans), spaghetti and sauce, soups, corn(can), green beans(can), cereal(boxed), yams(can) and boxed brownies.
Chilly fall mornings are here which is wonderful but the afternoons are still warm.  Please make sure that your student’s sweater or jacket is labeled with their name inside so it does not get lost.  Any sweater can be worn outside but if your student wants to wear their sweater inside the classroom it needs to be a solid red, white or navy blue color.
This week in class we will be reviewing letters and letter sounds and working on sounding out words when we are writing.  In math we are continuing to work on showing more and fewer and will start work on the teen numbers.
On Monday and Tuesday this week I will be testing students on math for Galileo.  This test will show growth of your student since the beginning of the year.
Please count with your student every day, to at least 50.  Some important sight words to review daily are have, is and little.
We will be having our Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday, November 26th.  Kindergarten is in charge of the stuffing!  We will have Old Pueblo Grille make the stuffing for us so all we each have to bring in is $1.  Please bring in the $1 by Monday, November 25th.
I'm looking forward to another great week of kindergarten!!

Week of November 12th

Welcome to another wonderful week of kindergarten!  You may have heard that our class pet, Peanut, passed away on Friday.  Peanut was a 5 year old guinea pig and he lived a very happy and full life. I know he loved meeting and spending time with all of the students.  On Friday we talked about our favorite memories of Peanut and all the good times we had had with Peanut.  It was a very nice memorial.

This week in class we will be learning the letter S and the sound that it makes.  In math we are continuing to work on adding one more and comparing numbers to 10.
Homework will go home today, Tuesday, and is due this Friday.  Please remember to fill in the reading log, I love to see what you are reading at home!
