Week of January 13th

Welcome to another wonderful week of kindergarten!  Special Lunch has started this semester. Student’s can earn special lunch by not getting their name on the board for the WHOLE WEEK! Those who earn special lunch get to eat in the room with me on Friday, and either do a fun activity or watch part of a movie while they eat. I’m looking forward to my Friday lunches!
This week in class we will be continuing to learn the letter I and the sound that it makes. We will also be sounding out many words with the short I sound in the middle.  This can be a tricky sound for students, please review often at home!  In math we will be continuing to learn addition skills and have our math test on Friday.  For science we will continue our dinosaur unit and we will also  learn about our desert habitat!
Our new goal is to count all the way to 75, and to be able to count by 2’s and 10’s!  We now have a daily shoe tyer of the day to help with all those untied laces!
I will be sending home the field trip permission slip for our field trip to Sabino Canyon on Thursday, January 23rd.  Please sign and return ASAP!! We will be learning about our desert environment and doing a bunch of cool activities! This field trip is FREE, all your student will have to bring that day is a sack lunch for our picnic at the park afterwards.
This Wednesday, January 15th is the 100th Day of School!  Wednesday we will have pajama day, do a bunch of fun activities having to do with 100 and have a little party at the end of the day!  Please remember for pajama days to leave the pillows and stuffed animals tucked in bed at home.  The 100th Day already, can you believe it?!?
