Week of January 27th

Welcome to another wonderful week of kindergarten!  At the end of the year we will have a kindergarten celebration! We put on a concert for all of you parents and then you can take your student for a very special day, a whole day to celebrate becoming a 1st grader!  We will have the celebration on Friday, May 16th at 9:00am.  I know it can be hard to get time off, and I wanted to be sure to give you plenty of notice!
Our welcome from Mr. Coyote on our Sabino Canyon field trip.

We will be having a Valentine Exchange and a little party on Friday, February 14th!  I know some of you would like to get an early start on your Valentines and wanted to let you know that in kindergarten we only have the kids sign the cards they are giving, we don’t have them address the card to anyone specific. This gives the students the opportunity to pass out their cards in a timely manner! Please send your Valentine cards in completed, students will not be putting them together at school.
This week in class we will be learning the letters N and B.  We will continue working on our dinosaur unit and will start making our dinosaur book.  We will also start working on the sight words me, with and she.  In math we will begin to work on subtraction and take away stories.

I will be in Phoenix for a conference this Wednesday and Thursday so if you need anything those days please email me.  I am also sending home the new snack calendar for February and March.
Our next field trip is coming up!  We will be going to Village Farms on Tuesday, February 18th.  There will be a cost for this trip and we will be doing another picnic afterwards so your student will need to bring a lunch.  We will need 2 more parent volunteers for the trip and if you are not already fingerprinted you would need to get it done by this Thursday.  Please let me know if you’re interested in joining us, the first 2 parents are in!
