Week of March 31st

           Welcome be another wonderful week of kindergarten!  Next week is AIMS week at school and that can be very tough on our kinders.  To give the students taking the AIMS the best advantage possible we stay in our room and work quietly during the day.  In order to break up our days a bit we will be going on some field trips! On Tuesday, April 8^th, we will be going to Old Pueblo Grille.  On Thursday, April 10^th, we will be going to the Tucson Museum of Art.  And Friday, April 11^th, we will be going on a scavenger hunt at Ft. Lowell Park.  Please sign permission slips and send back ASAP!
         This week we will be learning the letter and sound of X and the sight words they, of, are and that.  In math we will be taking our unit 10 test and working on decomposing numbers from 11-19.  We are still working on the mystery of where Irving is and will be doing some fun science experiments!

       We have 20 students who can count all the way to 100 without skipping any numbers!  Please keep working on counting by 1’s and 10’s to 100.

         SPIN night will be tomorrow night, Tuesday, April 1^st, and should be a fun one!  It will be a whole mystery night and the whole family is invited!  A few different flyers have gone home about SPIN night and if you are interested in attending please RSVP to the office.
       At the end of the year we will have a kindergarten celebration! We put on a concert for all of you parents and then you can take your student for a very special day, a whole day to celebrate becoming a 1^st grader!  We will have the celebration on Friday, May 16^th at 9:00am.  I know it can be hard to get time off, and I wanted to be sure to give you plenty of notice!

Week of March 24th

     Welcome to another wonderful week of kindergarten!  There will be a BLINGO fundraiser on March 29^th, to raise funds for a little girl with TAR Syndrome.  If you would like to purchase tickets they are $10 in the office.

       There will be a program called Mad Science starting on 3/26 for students K-6 in after school.  Flyers went home before break!

       LPA will be having it’s summer camp again this year!  Look for flyers coming home soon.

     At the end of the year we will have a kindergarten celebration!       This week we will be learning the letters and sounds of J and W and the sight words they, of, are and that.  In math we will be working on composing numbers from 11-19 and finding 10 more than.  In science we will continue to work on solids and liquids and will be working on a fun project!

       Please wait until we ask for the seedlings to come back to school.  We have to wait until a specific day to plant and I don’t have the best track record with keeping plants alive until then.

        The last snack calendar is going home today.  Please look for your student’s name in April or May and make a note on your calendar.  We have 30 students in class and snack favorites are assorted chips, fruit snacks, assorted Nabisco snacks and goldfish.  Please make sure snack is individually packaged!!!
