Week of February 3rd

            Welcome to another wonderful week of kindergarten!  We will be having a Valentine Exchange and a little party on Friday, February 14^th!  I know some of you would like to get an early start on your Valentines and wanted to let you know that in kindergarten we only have the kids sign the cards they are giving, we don’t have them address the card to anyone specific. This gives the students the opportunity to pass out their cards in a timely manner! Please send your Valentine cards in completed. Students will not be putting them together at school.

At the end of the year we will have a kindergarten celebration! We put on a concert for all of you parents and then you can take your student for a very special day, a whole day to celebrate becoming a 1^st grader!  We will have the celebration on Friday, May 16^th at 9:00am.  I know it can be hard to get time off, and I wanted to be sure to give you plenty of notice!

Our next field trip is coming up!  We will be going to Village Farms on Tuesday, February 18^th.  The permission slips went home last Monday and are due next Wednesday. The cost is $5, and it is NONREFUNDABLE!  If you would like to chaperone and have your fingerprints done, please let me know. The first 2 parents are in!  We will be doing another picnic lunch after the field trip at Brandi Fenton Park so you student will need to bring a sack lunch.

This week in class we will be learning the letters R and K.  We will finish working on our dinosaur unit and finish our dinosaur book.  We will also continue working on the sight words me, with and she.  In math we will continue to work on subtraction and take away stories. 

Please continue to count with your student every night.  Our goal is to count to 75 without skipping any numbers and to count by 10’s to 100.
