Week of January 6th

Welcome to another wonderful week of kindergarten!  Thank you so much for your help with the food drive!  We ended up with 97 cans and got 2nd place and Mrs. Marvin’s class had 128 cans to win!  We will be having a party to celebrate later this month.  We could not have done it without your help and the best part is that it helps out people in need.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Our second field trip will be on Thursday, January 23rd to Sabino Canyon.  We will be learning about our desert environment and doing a bunch of cool activities!  We have our 3 chaperones for the trip, thank you parent volunteers!  This field trip is FREE, all your student will have to bring that day is a sack lunch for our picnic at the park afterwards.
This week in class we will be learning the letter I and the sound that it makes. We will also be sounding out many words with the short I sound in the middle.  This can be a tricky sound for students, please review often at home!  In math we will be starting to learn addition skills.  For science we will start our dinosaur unit and we will also begin learning about our desert habitat!
Our new goal is to count all the way to 75, and to be able to count by 2’s and 10’s!  We now have a daily shoe tyer of the day, as Ms. Hayde and I don’t tie shoes the 2nd semester!
Special Lunch will be starting this semester.  Student’s can earn special lunch by not getting their name on the board for the WHOLE WEEK!  Those who earn special lunch get to eat in the room with me on Friday, and either do a fun activity or watch part of a movie while they eat.   I’m looking forward to my Friday lunches!
I'm looking forward to another wonderful week!
